Deepak Agarwala is third generation businessman of the AGARWALA GROUP and he is heading HI RISE MICA COMPANY. He has been involved in Exports of Mica Products since 1988.
He studied in well known boarding school, Mayo College in Ajmer which was established by H.E. Richard Southwell Bourke, 6th Earl of Mayo, Ireland who was later Viceroy and Governor General of India from 1868 to 1872. Mayo College was a Royal School and is called ETON of India. Later he completed his college from St Xavier’s College, Calcutta and obtained B. Com (Hons.) degree with Honors in Economics. He got Mathematics prize in Class 8 in Mayo College and 1st position in Economics in Class XI in his school.
Family Background:
His Grand father, Late Mr. Ram Gopal Agarwala, was a noted industrialist from Bihar State and successfully ran M/s. R. K. Agarwala & Bros. He was Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha (Upper House) for 2 terms from Bihar ( 0 3-04-1952 to 02-04-1956 and 03-04-1956 to 02-04-1962 ) when Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was Prime Minister. He was also very active member of Congress Party from Bihar and was chairing several government boards including MICA Boards.
His grand mother, Late Sarla R. G. Agarwala was a very educated lady and was Advocate in Supreme Court, New Delhi .
His father, Late Mr. Ajeya Kumar Agarwala, has studied BA. LL.B. and was actively involved in family business of Mica Exports.
Business:
Deepak has been involved in business since 1988. He founded Hi Rise Mica Company for processing and exports of Mica Products and today Hi Rise is among top 5 exporters of Mica from India . Currently he is heading the Company. Besides, he also founded Acromont Corporation which is a General Trading and Export-Import company. This company exports Flexible Packaging, Resins, Minerals, Food & Feed Additives.
He is also an Active Member of Rotary Club of Calcutta (RI Dist 3291) which is the oldest Rotary Club in Asia founded in 1919.
Travels:
Deepak has been always very interested in Geography and could identify maps of countries, capitals and flags. He even designed a flag for Greenland only to be informed that they had already selected another flag.
Deepak traveled to USA and Europe for the first time in 1991 and he visited 10 countries and his trip was for 72 days. Since then, he has been traveling extensively. He has traveled to nearly 35 states in the USA including Hawaii and Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, Spain, Benelux, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Russia, Czech Rep, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, UAE, etc. several times.
